Today, U.S. Representative Thaddeus McCotter (MI-11) voted to continue and fortify federal support for women and victims of domestic and sexual abuse. Rep. McCotter co-sponsored Rep. Sandy Adams' (FL-24) Violence Against Women Act Reauthorization of 2012 (H.R. 4970), which seeks to continue funding for grants to protect victims of domestic violence, dating violence, sexual assault and stalking and would strengthen maximum penalties for these crimes within federal jurisdiction. Said McCotter:

"As a son, husband, and father of our daughter, I fully support increasing women's protections from and criminals' punishments for reprehensible acts of violence."
